Patrick Mahomes Has No Words for Wife Brittany’s Big Announcement

While Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes prepares to watch the Super Bowl from home for the first time in four years, he’s also recovering from a season-ending injury.

Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL during the final few minutes of Kansas City’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15, a defeat that bumped the Chiefs from playoff contention. He immediately underwent reconstructive surgery by Dallas Cowboys physician, Dr. Daniel Cooper.

During his recovery, the three-time Super Bowl MVP is working toward starting Week 1 of the 2026 season and leaning on the support of his wife, Brittany Mahomes, and their three children, Sterling, 4, Bronze, 3, and Golden Raye, 1.

“I think that’s kind of pushed me through some of those mental hurdles, and that, as well as having a great wife that is able to keep me involved with the kids,” Mahomes told reporters earlier this month. “And the kids understanding that dad can’t necessarily be the dad that I usually am, throwing them around the couches and stuff like that.

“I think that’s been good for my mental is just being around the kids, and being around the family and have a lot of great people around me.”

While the Mahomes family is used to celebrating the two-time league MVP’s achievements around this time of year, it’s Brittany getting a special accolade this month. The former soccer player and founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current is becoming a Hall of Famer.

Brittany Mahomes Is Entering the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame

While Mahomes attended Texas Tech, Brittany went to college at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she played on the school’s soccer team.

The school announced on January 30 that Brittany, along with Dr. Howard Patterson and the 2016 Softball Team, will make up the department’s sixth class entering the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame.

Brittany “put together one of the strongest careers in UT Tyler women’s soccer history from 2013-2016,” the announcement stated. “She stands second all-time in total points (78) and goals (31), third in game-winning goals (10) and assists (16), and tied for third in total games played (74).

She also put together arguably the best single-season in program history in 2016, scoring the most points (40), goals (18), and game-winning goals (7). In that same season, she posted four different games with three goals, tied for the best mark in program history for a single match.”

Mahomes proudly shared the news on his Instagram Stories without further comment. He shares his wife’s love for soccer, as he subsequently joined Brittany as a co-owner of the KC Current, which is now the second-most valuable franchise in the NWSL.

Brittany Mahomes Joined the NWSL’s Star-Studded Advisory Board to ‘Help Steer’ The League’s Future

Following the Current’s historic success this year, Brittany joined an A-list group to help the NWSL continue to grow.

Boardroom and the NWSL posted on November 6, “The league announced the formation of a new advisory board made up of athletes, investors, and cultural icons who will focus on marketing, branding, fan engagement, and player initiatives starting in 2026.”

“Commissioner Jessica Berman says the group will serve as mentors and cultural connectors while helping expand the league’s reach through partnerships and appearances in NWSL campaigns — a move that underscores the growing influence of women’s sports.”

Country music had never seen a bond like theirs. Then on April 30, 2022, Naomi Judd was gone. One day later, The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Wynonna walked that red carpet alone. She accepted the honor with trembling hands and a voice that barely held. But she wasn’t done. When the lights dimmed and “Love Can Build a Bridge” began, Wynonna opened her mouth — and half the room shattered. The other half wasn’t far behind. She sang every word meant for two voices. Alone. And somehow, the harmony never felt missing…

“SIXTEEN TONS” SOLD OVER 4 MILLION COPIES IN JUST WEEKS — AND THE MAN WHO MADE IT FAMOUS LEARNED IT FROM A COAL MINER’S SON. Tennessee Ernie Ford didn’t just sing this song. He lived every word of it. Written by Merle Travis — whose own father broke his back in Kentucky coal mines — “Sixteen Tons” carried the weight of real sweat, real debt, and real pain. Then in 1977, something remarkable happened. Travis and Ford finally shared the same stage. Two voices. One deep as the earth, the other warm as firelight. When Ford snapped his fingers and sang “another day older and deeper in debt,” the entire auditorium fell silent. It wasn’t a performance. It was a confession — from every working man who ever sold his body but refused to sell his soul. 70 years later, that snap still echoes. And if you listen closely, you might understand why millions couldn’t stop playing this song… and still can’t.

“IF I CAN JUST GET OFF OF THAT L.A. FREEWAY WITHOUT GETTING KILLED OR CAUGHT” — JERRY JEFF WALKER SANG THOSE WORDS AT FARM AID 1986, AND 40,000 FANS FELT IT IN THEIR BONES. On a warm July afternoon, Jerry Jeff Walker stepped onto that stage with the easy grin of a man who’d seen every highway in America. But before he played a single note, he did something unexpected — he mentioned his son Clark, home sick, unable to be there. That small, quiet moment changed everything. When “L.A. Freeway” began, it wasn’t just a song anymore. It was a confession. His voice carried the kind of defiance that doesn’t shout — it just lingers in your chest long after the last chord fades. 40,000 people stood under that open sky, and for a few minutes, every single one of them believed in the same simple dream — getting free. What Jerry Jeff Walker whispered to the crowd right after that final note still gives longtime fans chills to this day…

WHEN 92-YEAR-OLD WILLIE NELSON WALKED ONTO THE CMA STAGE TO HONOR KRIS KRISTOFFERSON… NOT A SINGLE PERSON STAYED IN THEIR SEAT.He hadn’t performed at the CMAs in over a decade. But when Kris passed at 88, Willie knew he had to come back — for him.He told the crowd about the first time they met in Nashville, two broke songwriters sharing a bottle and a dream. How Kris handed him “Me and Bobby McGee” and said, “This one’s bigger than both of us.” How they rode together as Highwaymen — four outlaws against the world — until only Willie remained. Then he picked up his guitar. And with that weathered voice, he sang their song one last time. The last Highwayman. Still standing. Still singing. But for the first time… alone.
