A Kensington Palace spokesman told GB News: ‘The Wales family will move house later this year’

Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom home in Windsor, is Princess Kate and Prince William’s future home.

Kensington Palace has confirmed to GB News that later this year, the Prince and Princess of Wales will be moving their family into their “forever home”.

Forest Lodge is an eight-bedroom Grade II-listed house nestled in Windsor Great Park.

Situated just a short distance from their current four-bedroom residence, Adelaide Cottage, the move is framed as a “fresh start” following a tumultuous few years.

In recent years, the family has grappled with the death of Queen Elizabeth II and cancer diagnoses affecting both King Charles and Princess Kate.

According to sources close to the couple, Kate and William see Forest Lodge as a long-term haven—more than just a new address, it represents stability and a return to normalcy.

Forest Lodge is no ordinary dwelling. Believed to be around 328 years old, this Georgian lodge still retains original features such as ornate plaster cornices and marble fireplaces.

In addition, the property features Venetian windows and a half-barrel vaulted hallway ceiling.

These details were preserved during a major £1.5million restoration in 2001. Once available to rent at £15,000 per month, the lodge is now valued at approximately £16million.

The family will also maintain their preference of having no live-in staff, a continuation of their desire for a household that feels more like a family home than a traditional Palace.

Adelaide Cottage has served the family well since 2022, providing a modest, well-loved base in Windsor where their children, Princess Charlotte, Prince George, and Prince Louis, attend nearby Lambrook School.

However, the property only had four bedrooms, whereas Forest Lodge has double that amount.

Forest Lodge, barely four miles away and still within the beautiful confines of Windsor Great Park, is tipped to keep the family well-connected to their current routines and surroundings.

A planning application lodged in June reveals both internal and external renovations are already underway, with approval recently granted, signalling that the house move could very well happen before Christmas.

Forest Lodge is poised to become the family’s sanctuary, combining heritage charm, intimate scale, and practical proximity.

A Kensington Palace spokesman told GB News: “The Wales family will move house later this year,” ushering in a new, hopeful chapter for William, Kate, and their three young children.
