In our interview with Piolo after the press conference of “ Northern Lights ,” he himself brought up the issue of the viral video of him and his father where Inigo kissed him before hugging him.

“I’m thinking about how am I going to address that issue, what am I going to say, how am I going to say it because, you can get angry, you can get defensive.

“Pero you know what, at the end of the day, blessing ‘yung ganu’ng experience na habang nabubuhay ka pa, you get to experience that with your family, with your son for that matter.

“I have nothing to say to the bashers – it’s a blessing that my son does that to me because that’s how my parents raised me,” Piolo explained.

They say it’s normal for them and their children to be affectionate.

“That’s natural, eh. Me, I really love pampering children because when they grow up, you can’t pamper them anymore. But for me, for my child to do that to me, I’ll do that to my mother too, I’ll do that to my father too, because it feels good to please your parents, right?” he reasoned.

The Ultimate Leading Man is happy with how his son is handling the issue. He says his son is more mature in his thinking than he is. He also said that he and Inigo haven’t talked about it.

“We never even talk about it. You know, one thing good about my son, he’s 19, turning 20, he’s so mature. There are things we talk about and I don’t have to filter things anymore. He’s mature enough to understand,” he added.

When asked if he thinks what happened to father and son Cesar Montano and Diego Loyzaga won’t happen to him and Inigo, Piolo said it’s not right to compare.

“You can never compare. I mean, you know, I love Diego, he’s a good kid. Kuya Buboy (Cesar) too, I cannot compare that, that’s not right, for you to compare someone else’s situation.

“I’ll always be a father to my son.”

Piolo admitted that Inigo also went on stage feeling shy and awkward about kissing his parents, especially him.

“Inigo passed by, when I dropped him off at school before, he didn’t want to kiss,” said the Ultimate Leading Man.

It may have helped that Ingo saw that he was still kissing his mommy all the time, so the young man’s awkwardness disappeared.

“Because until now, I kiss my mom on the lips. Because that’s how we were raised, that’s how we are siblings, we kiss on the lips and you cherish the moment, you treasure that moment that you get to be physical with your loved ones,” he said.
