A “road rage” incident in Antipolo City has once again become the center of social media discussion, not only because of the violence on the road, but also because of the name of a famous personality being implicated. The viral video, which shows a white pickup truck driver fighting with a father and his young son who were pushing a cart, has drawn heavy criticism from netizens for the lack of mercy and trauma it caused to the child.
The Sad Incident
It all started when a video went viral showing Carlos Subong, the driver of the pickup truck, angrily getting out of his car and confronting his father, Chris Pine Villamore. According to reports, Villamore’s son was nearly hit by the speeding pickup truck. Instead of apologizing, the driver lost his temper when the truck and the cart collided.

What further infuriated the public was Subong’s violent treatment of the father in front of his little daughter. In the video, the child can be heard sobbing as he watches his father being shouted at and punched. The fear and confusion on the child’s face were enough reasons for netizens to slam the authorities.
Pokwang’s Confession and Apology
Soon, information surfaced that the driver was the brother of famous comedian Pokwang. Instead of remaining silent or defending her relative, Pokwang chose to go public and take moral responsibility for her brother’s behavior. In an emotional statement on social media, the actress confirmed that Carlos Subong was her brother but emphatically stated that she was not happy and would never side with his wrongdoing.
“I’m sorry, my dear,” Pokwang’s message to the young girl who was the victim of the incident. She clarified that although they share the same surname, they do not think and act the same way. Pokwang’s move drew praise from many for her courage to confront the issue and apologize despite the shame it brought to their family.
Action by LTO and the Police
Due to the weight of evidence in the viral video, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) did not make any arrests. The agency announced a 90-day suspension of Subong’s license as a preventive measure while a more in-depth investigation is conducted. According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Marcus Lacanilao, any form of road violence is unacceptable, especially when an innocent child is involved.

On the other hand, Antipolo City Police, Police Captain Arnel Taga reported that Subong voluntarily surrendered and went to the police station to negotiate with the victim. According to the police, the driver apologized to Villamore and admitted that he had overreacted that day. In the end, the victim decided not to file a formal complaint so that the matter could be over and they could live peacefully.
Cyberbullying and Family Privacy
Despite the settlement between both parties, Pokwang also expressed her thoughts on the increasing cyberbullying against her family. She said that there are netizens and even some politicians who have implicated members of her family who had nothing to do with the incident. The actress reminded that there is a law against cyber libel and that one person’s mistake should not be used to destroy the honor of the entire family.
This issue serves as a stark reminder to all motorists that the road is for everyone—whether you’re riding in a luxury car or just pushing a cart. Every action we take has its corresponding responsibility, and the trauma we inflict on others, especially children, cannot be easily erased with a simple “sorry.” In the end, Pokwang and the victim’s honesty and humility put an end to a complex chapter of road rage in the country.
