Patrick Mahomes, Wife Brittany Get Good News Amid Chiefs’ Offseason

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are excited to the KC Current’s season turn around.

While Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes focuses on recovering from an ACL tear suffered in December, he and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are also keeping a close eye on the KC Current.

Mahomes and Brittany are co-owners of the NWSL team along with owners Chris Angie Long. Last season, the Current were nearly unbeatable. The 2025 NWSL Shield winners scored the most points (65), most wins (21), most shutouts (16), multi-goal wins (15), and more.

While the club’s playoff run was shockingly brief, Gotham FC, the former No. 8-seeded team, sent the No. 1 Current home in the quarterfinals, they finished the regular season with just three losses. Flash forward to the 2026 season, and the Current is on a three-game losing streak.

Up next, the Current take on Gotham FC for the first time since the playoffs on April 4. One day before the big rematch, KC finally got some good news that could turn this season around.Có thể là hình ảnh về bóng đá và văn bản cho biết 'h. 2-Time League MVP Temwa Chawinga Is Finally Ready to Return

The Current played without the reigning two-time NWSL MVP Temwa Chawinga in the playoffs last season after she injured her hip. However, the Current announced on April 3, “The reigning MVP is BACK. 🤩 Temwa Chawinga has been removed the SEI list and is available for selection for tomorrow’s game.”

Chawinga, the first NWSL player in history to ever win MVP in back-to-back years, also won back-to-back Golden Boot awards.

Last May, she became the fastest player to record 25 regular-season goals by six matches. Over the past two seasons, she’s scored 35 goals. The 27-year-old played a crucial role in the Current’s record-breaking season last year, and her return to the lineup delivers a massive boost on offense and defense.

The Current posted a quote from Chawinga, which Brittany liked on Instagram. “I lean on my teammates,” she said. “When I wake up, I look forward to coming here… the way we talk, the way we laugh together. It’s so important to me to have our big group.”

Fans were thrilled to learn that Chawinga’s back. One fan commented on Instagram, “Please save us Chawinga.” One woman gushed, “I could cry tears of joy!!!” Another person wrote, “Not even a KC fan and I’m glad to hear this!!🙌🙌🙌.”

KC Current Underwent Major Changes From Last Season

After the Current’s early exit from the playoffs, the team made several big moves. They hired a new head coach, Chris Armas, so former head coach, Vlatko Andonovski, could focus on being the club’s sporting director.

KC made a blockbuster move to send Claire Hutton to Bay FC for $1.1 million and replaced her by acquiring midfielder Croix Bethune from the Washington Spirit. The Spirit received a club-record $100,000 in allocation funds and $900,000 in transfer threshold funds.

Days before the 2026 home opener, the Current made a last-minute $350,000 move, trading for forward Penelope Hocking.

With Mahomes focusing on his rehab and family time, he and Brittany have not yet made it a match this season.

LESS THAN A YEAR BEFORE THE PLANE CRASH THAT TOOK HER LIFE, PATSY CLINE STOOD ON THAT STAGE AND SANG LIKE SHE KNEW. On April 16, 1962, Patsy Cline walked onto the Pet Milk Opry stage with Bobby Lord beside her. The lights were low. One microphone between them. And what came next still haunts anyone who hears it. They sang “(Remember Me) I’m the One That Loves You” — and Patsy’s voice wrapped around every word like she was holding on to something only she could feel. No studio tricks. No digital polish. Just raw, aching beauty with Junior Huskey’s bass keeping time beneath them. She was at the absolute peak of her gift that night. Powerful, tender, completely in command. Less than eleven months later, she was gone. But that voice in this lost footage — the way she looks at Bobby mid-verse, the way the room goes still — it tells you something words can’t quite explain…

4 MEN SOLD 20 MILLION RECORDS TOGETHER. NOW ONLY 1 IS LEFT — AND HE JUST DROVE 6 HOURS TO STAND IN FRONT OF 3 GRAVES. Nobody told him to go. The Highwaymen — Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson — once owned every stage they touched. Waylon left in 2002. Johnny followed in 2003. Kris slipped away quietly in September 2024. Now Willie, 92 years old and still touring, drove alone through the Tennessee hills one autumn morning and stopped at three different cemeteries in a single day. At each grave, he sat on the ground, guitar across his lap, and played their song — just one verse, then silence. No cameras. No crew. Just the last Highwayman, keeping a promise no one else remembers him making. What he left on Kris’s headstone made the groundskeeper call his wife in tears.

HE GREW UP IN A CONVERTED SCHOOL BUS WITH 6 SIBLINGS — 60 YEARS LATER, HIS VOICE STILL SILENCES THE GRAND OLE OPRY. Gene Watson never had anything handed to him. Seven kids crammed into a school bus — that was home. No stage, no dream, no promise of tomorrow. He fixed cars during the day. At night, he sang in honky-tonks where nobody stayed long enough to remember his face. Nashville didn’t want him. The industry looked right past him for years. Then one song changed everything — a man imagining his own funeral, begging the woman who never loved him to pretend, just once, that she did. That song didn’t just hit the charts. It found its way into real funerals across America. No major awards ever came. But more than sixty years later, Gene Watson still stands at that microphone — his voice as pure and powerful as the day he started. Country music kept chasing trends… but what Gene Watson carried in his voice never needed to change.
