Perfecto “Patrick” de la Rosa was born on July 13, 1961 , in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. He grew up in a disciplined home — his father was a soldier who had a strong desire for his son to become an engineer . But fate took a different direction.

toothpaste commercial in 1983 opened the door to his destiny. He was noticed by Mother Lily Monteverde , the “Regal Mother” of Philippine cinema. And on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1983 , he was christened Patrick — a name that would later become a symbol of charisma, courage, and talent.

Within a few years, he proved himself worthy of the title of matinee idol. He appeared in the films “Uhaw sa Pag-ibig,” “Sinner or Saint,” “Harot,” “Climax,” “White Slavery,” and “Kiri.” From a novice, he quickly rose to prominence and was hailed as one of the happiest faces of the 80s.

“I never really dreamed of becoming an actor,” he once said in an interview. “But sometimes, destiny itself writes the script for you.”

Her breakthrough film “The Shame,” directed by Elwood Perez , brought her to the peak of fame. At the tender age of 19, she focused on acting under talented acting coaches, and it paid off — the film went to number one at the box office and even beat Sharon Cuneta’s “To Love Again.”

THE TRANSITION FROM SHOWBIZ TO POLITICS

But the brilliance of the stage did not last forever. By the 1990s, Patrick gradually moved away from the spotlight and entered politics in his province of Oriental Mindoro , where he served as a Board Member of the first district.

Despite the challenges of politics, Patrick was praised for his concern for the people of Mindoro. Through the projects and initiatives he supported, he proved that a former artist can also be a loyal public servant.

However, like every movie, there are stormy scenes. Patrick experienced controversies, intrigues, and challenges to his reputation. But instead of giving up, he chose to remain silent and continue in silent service.

“The truth is, it’s harder to be real than to pretend,” he once said. “That’s why I chose to remain silent rather than argue.”

THE SILENCE IN CALIFORNIA

In 2007 , Patrick said goodbye to showbiz and politics for good. He moved to the United States , where he lived a simple and happy life with his family. Instead of cameras and scripts, he focused on business and exercise.

According to an interview in April 2025, Patrick shared the secret to his health and happiness:

“I stopped chasing fame. I started chasing peace.”

This is where he found true peace — far from the noise of showbiz, but close to the hearts of those who loved him.
