After eight years, lovers Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil have reportedly separated, according to the actress’s former manager Ogie Diaz.
In his YouTube vlog on Tuesday (May 30), Ogie said that the two decided to separate because Liza wanted to focus on her career first.
“What we have heard is that Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano have separated. I don’t know if they both wanted it, but what we have heard is that Liza chose to focus on her programming career first, so there’s nothing left,” said Ogie.
“What reached us was Enrique Gil, who was still pushing that maybe, that maybe it’s still possible to continue, he can allow Liza if that’s what Liza wants, that this is still her Hollywood dream but it’s still them.”
According to Ogie, the rumors of Liza and Enrique’s breakup started when netizens noticed that the actress no longer mentioned her boyfriend’s name on social media or in her interviews.
“It seems to be rooted in Liza’s pronouncements or statements or past interviews, she never mentioned Enrique Gil,” said Ogie.
“Then it seemed like she wasn’t in favor of forming a love team, so there was some doubt that they might not be together anymore because first of all, she wasn’t proud of her boyfriend, because otherwise Liza would post about it,” he added.
Ogie added that even on Enrique’s birthday, Liza didn’t send any greetings to her boyfriend on social media.
“But they both remained silent on this issue. That seems to be the conclusion that most people, especially those who follow LizQuen, have come to, if they are really gone,” he explained.
According to the veteran showbiz reporter, Liza’s recent return from America also added to the misunderstanding between the two.
“Enrique Gil didn’t know that Liza came here and her management picked her up,” Ogie revealed. As usual, I hope it’s not true that they’re separated, I hope if there’s any gap or any misunderstanding, miscom (miscommunication), misunderstanding can be patched. Too bad, how old are they, 8 years. That’s a shame too, right?”
On the possibility of a third party in Liza and Enrique’s breakup, Ogie replied: “That’s what we don’t know.”
“But of course that’s how it is, even if it’s true that Enrique and Liza are no longer together, what’s always important in a relationship is that you end up as still friends, if not friends, you end up being civil with each other,” he added.
As Liza’s former talent manager, Ogie is said to be sad for the two of them.
“It’s sad because I’m the type of person I used to think of them when Liza and I were talent managers, their relationship was great. But I don’t know, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow. People really change and they should be open to changes. That’s what I heard, that Liza doesn’t want it anymore, Quen still wants it, that’s why Liza is also an alpha girl. Anyway, I hope it’s not true,” said Ogie.
“If it’s true, I’m the one who was sad, not echoes because I’m rooting for both of them to end their marriage because I know how much Quen loves Liza, and Liza loves Quen. But of course in this case, we don’t know what the reason for their split up is. But there’s no announcement yet so that’s what we’ll wait for,” he added.
It can be recalled that Enrique recently clarified that his relationship with Liza remains good.
“We’re good,” said Quen in an interview with TV Patrol in April.
“She’s just really busy with her stuff there [in the US]. I am going to be visiting her maybe when my schedule clears up. I think she’s coming back here. But yeah, we’re good.”
The actor also stressed his love and support for his bride.
“I just really support her no matter what. I know it’s hard going into a new path but I support her nonetheless and who knows you might be seeing her come back in the near future,” ani Quen.
“Because Hope (totoong pangalan ni Liza) is in the U.S., she is doing her own thing which I am going to support no matter what. I love her to death,” sabi pa niya.
Meanwhile, in March, Liza apologized to Enrique amid the controversy she faced after her controversial tell-all vlog.
“I feel like I should say sorry [to Quen] for not being as understanding or being able to see his struggle because I was struggling at the same time, too. But I wanna say thank you because he was very understanding of the whole situation,” ani Liza.
“He supports me with everything that I do and he’s always been a good friend to me, a good boyfriend and everything that I have lahat ng success ko, he was the person that I get to share in that way. And it was a good experience,”
