Kim Atienza Responds Strongly to Netizen Who Criticized Him as a Father — ‘Don’t Judge What You Don’t Know!’

“Kim Atienza, Responds Strongly to Netizen Who Criticized Him as a Father — ‘Don’t Judge What You Don’t Know!’”

It’s no secret that Kim Atienza, or better known as “Kuya Kim,” is one of the most respected personalities on television. He is known for his knowledge of science, nature, and animals, as well as being a loving husband and father. But recently, a brave netizen seemed to test his patience with some derogatory comments about his parenting — and Kuya Kim didn’t hold back.

It all started when Kim posted a photo with her three children on Instagram. It was just a simple family photo, where you can see her happy smile and the caption “Family time is the best time.” But in the comment section, a netizen suddenly left a sarcastic message:
“You’re so quick to give advice about family, but you’re not always with your children. Always working, always going out. Is that really a good father?”

Normally, Kim doesn’t take kindly to negative comments. But this time, it seems like she’s had enough. Under the comment, she responded directly to the basher:
“You know, you don’t have to see every moment of a father on social media to say he’s doing his job. Not all love needs to be shown on the post. There are things that are more important off camera — and that’s time and presence that you don’t have to flaunt online.”

His response immediately went viral. Many netizens praised his dignified yet courageous response. One of the comments said:
“Kuya Kim is the definition of grace under pressure. Real man, real father.”

But not everyone was in his favor. Some still said that, as a public figure, he should be prepared for all kinds of criticism.
“That’s part of being a celebrity. If you don’t want to be criticized, don’t post,” said another netizen.

In an interview a few days later, Kim clarified the whole issue.
“I don’t blame them. We all have opinions. But hopefully, before we comment, let’s first think about what the person is going through. Not all fathers need to show off their parenting style on social media. Me, I prefer to be quiet when it comes to my family, because that’s what I want to protect.”

He added that this was a big lesson for him as a public figure.
“I realized that no matter what you do, people will have something to say and will say. So now, I choose to focus on the people who really understand me — especially my family.”

Despite the controversy, many were even more impressed with Kuya Kim. Others even shared their own experiences as parents who are often misjudged because of work.
“That’s true, Kuya Kim. Some people think that because we’re busy, we don’t have time for our family. They don’t know, we do everything for them,” said a father who commented on Facebook.

This incident served as a reminder to the public how easy it is to judge in this age of social media. One post, one picture, and suddenly everyone has an opinion. But as Kim Atienza showed, there is a way to respond with respect and dignity, even in the midst of intense criticism.

In the last part of his interview, he left a message that struck a chord with viewers:
“If you’re going to say something about someone, make sure you know them first. Because sometimes, people are more likely to see small flaws, but they don’t know how much sacrifice you make for the ones you love.”

Since then, Kuya Kim has gone quiet on the issue. But netizens are still talking about his strong stance. For some, it’s a reminder that true fatherhood is not measured by the number of posts, but by the depth of love you give to your family — even without a camera.

And in the end, it seems that people got to know Kuya Kim better — not just as a TV personality, but as a father who knows how to stand his ground, knows how to understand, and most of all, knows how to love quietly but truly.
