THE second time, the police tried again to file an arrest warrant against Ken Chan but they failed to catch the actor.
This Friday, November 8, the police went to the actor’s house again to serve the arrest warrant but there was no one at his house.
Ken was formally charged with estafa by Quezon City’s Prosecution Office due to the alleged anomalous P14-M investment deal involved.
In the media interview with the legal counsels of the complainant, Atty. Joseph Noel Estrada and Atty. Maverick Romero of the Estrada and Aquino Law Office, confirmed that the actor and his seven other co-investors were involved.
“Let’s just try to serve the warrant. Actually, it’s the second time now. We’re just taking risks. He [Ken] didn’t see, eh. He is not there,” said the lawyer.
The complainant who was allegedly defrauded by the group of actors did not want to be identified but was described as a male businessman aged “40s-50s.”
Ken is said to have promised profitable investment in restaurants and other businesses when they met in 2022.
The actor’s group was given P14-M as an investment but later it seems that they did not fulfill their agreement.
“According to the complainant, [he] was robbed of Ken’s investment. They are not authorized to solicit investment from the public. Using misrepresentation, fraudulent schemes, they got money from the complainant,” said Atty. Estrada
He added that the actor spoke directly with the complainant for their deal.
When asked if the complainant gave the money to Ken himself, the lawyer replied, “The money went to him.”
“The money involved is around PHP14M. I think based on the complaint, about two grants, in less than a year,” continued the lawyer.
It was 2023 when such a businessman filed a complaint against Ken’s group but it only went up to the court.
So far they have no idea where the actor is and even his seven colleagues have not been seen.
But when we visited Ken’s Instagram page, he posted yesterday in his IG stories and it seems that he is in another country.
He even shared a photo of him with the caption, “mindset is everything.”
BANDERA is open for the statement and clarification of Ken Chan and other people involved in the issue.
