KATSEYE bagged their first-ever MTV Video Music Awards on Monday, September 8 (PH time), winning the Push Performance of the Year for their hit single “Touch.”
During their acceptance speech, Filipino member Sophia Laforteza proudly thanked fans in both English and Filipino, making the moment extra special for Pinoy EYEKONS (fandom name).
“Thank you to our EYEKONS, we are here because of you. We love you so, so much. Thank you for believing in us… Maraming, maraming salamat,” Sophia said.
The Filipino singer also expressed gratitude to their management, HYBE and Geffen Records, for guiding the group through their journey.

Meanwhile, Lara reflected on how meaningful the milestone was for the six-member global group.
“Oh my God. This is so crazy. Thank you so much. This is all very new to us. This is our first time ever doing this, so this is crazy. We’ve been through a lot together, so having this moment feels like so rewarding, and feels like everything has paid off, and fuels us to keep going, so thank you,” she stated.
Lara ended her message by addressing EYEKONS worldwide: “To our EYEKONS all over the world, this means the world to us so thank you so much.”
In a heartfelt gesture, Lara also expressed her thanks in Tamil, honoring her Indian heritage.
Composed of Sophia, Lara, Daniela, Yoonchae, Manon, and Megan, KATSEYE made their debut in June 2024 with the release of their first single “Debut.” The group quickly gained traction, followed with their breakout hit “Touch” in July 2024.

The group reached another milestone in August 2024 with the release of their first extended play (EP), SIS (Soft Is Strong). To promote the EP, KATSEYE embarked on an Asia tour in September 2024, performing in South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan.
The group released their second EP Beautiful Chaos in June this year.
In an interview with B96 Chicago at the recent Lollapalooza, Lara shared how their sound has grown bolder over time
“I feel like our music now is like it’s a little bolder ’cause I think through the years especially like the first year during the SIS (Soft Is Strong) era, we were finding our identity as a group and like learning who we are as a collective and as one. And I think for Beautiful Chaos we kind of have a better understanding of that, like the unity we have together,” she relayed.
She added that their latest music mirrors the group’s current dynamic. “I feel like the new music is very representative of that and like the relationship we have with each other currently and just how tight, and close, and like chaotic our friendship is with each other,” she pointed out.
