Kathryn Bernardo Credits Fans and Team for Seoul International Drama Awards Victory
MANILA — Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans and the team behind the hit drama series “2 Good 2 Be True” for helping her achieve the prestigious Outstanding Asian Star award at the 18th Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA).
Bernardo, who won the award last July, shared her thoughts during a press conference, emphasizing how vital her supporters and team were in her success.
“Hindi naman siya mangyayari if not for the fans, my ‘2 Good 2 Be True’ family, kami nina Gillian Vicencio, direk Mae Cruz-Alviar, Daniel Padilla, and everybody,” she said.
A Proud Representative of the Philippines
As she prepares to attend the awarding ceremony on September 21, which will air live on Korea’s KBS2TV, Bernardo expressed pride in representing the Philippines on an international stage.
“Ma-nominate pa lang doon, sabi ko okay na ‘yon. Hindi ko naman in-expect na lilipad tayo roon to receive an award. What a way to end this movie. May mga remnants pa ng TV series na pinanggalingan namin, nakakatuwa,” she shared.
Bernardo also noted that the award wasn’t just hers alone but a recognition for the entire “2 Good 2 Be True” team.
“Me receiving that award, it’s not just for me. It’s for the whole team ng ‘2 Good 2 Be True’ na na-recognize tayo, hindi lang dito sa Pilipinas but also in Asia,” she added.
Continuing the Legacy
Bernardo follows in the footsteps of her fellow Star Magic artist, Belle Mariano, who also received the Outstanding Asian Star award in 2022. Founded in 2006, the Seoul International Drama Awards remains the only international drama festival in South Korea that highlights drama trends globally.
A Busy Year Ahead for Kathryn
Fresh off her victory, Kathryn is gearing up for an exciting year with three major film projects in the works:
- “A Very Good Girl” with Dolly de Leon, directed by Petersen Vargas,
- “Elena 1944” helmed by Olivia Lamasan, and
- A yet-untitled film with long-time boyfriend Daniel Padilla, under Cathy Garcia-Molina’s direction.
As Kathryn continues to shine both locally and internationally, her triumph at the SDA solidifies her status as one of the most celebrated Filipino actresses of her generation.
