MANILA — Actress Angel Locsin on Wednesday shrugged off body shaming comments she received, stressing that there is nothing wrong with her figure.
“Yes, I’m big. So, what now? Why is there a gap? Sometimes when others are still ugly, I look at their profile picture, excuse me,” Locsin said in jest in an interview with Ogie Diaz.
“You don’t want to insult people, right? It’s like okay, okay, sometimes I’ll smile and say, “Ouch, I’m embarrassed,” but when I look at the profile pic, it’s okay,” she added.
Locsin said her body figure does not define her, noting that her husband Neil Arce accepts her no matter what.
“I’m trying but I’m not trying my best. I don’t really care. I’m Angel Locsin, I’ve developed myself so whatever I am now, I don’t really care.
“What I mean is I don’t care what other people think. I’m okay, eh. I’m beautiful in my husband’s eyes,” she added.
Locsin said one’s body should not define her as an artist.
“We’ll get there too; if you lose weight, you lose weight. But it’s not an issue. My being Angel Locsin is not measured by how much I weigh,” she said.
“I know I’ve proven a lot to myself, to other people, that I’m okay with that. It’s up to you what you want to say. It’s okay, I don’t care.”
