Adam Peaty’s ex girlfriend Eirianedd Munroe brands his surname change ‘hypocritical’ as she calls out his ‘double standards’ after marriage to Holly Ramsay

The newly-married glow around Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty has been overshadowed by fresh claims of tension with his former partner — after he publicly adopted the double-barrelled surname Ramsay Peaty following his wedding to Holly Ramsay.

Sources now claim that Adam’s ex, Eirianedd Munroe, has been left feeling hurt and sidelined by the move, branding the decision “hypocritical” given what she says happened when their son was born.

The 31-year-old athlete married influencer Holly, 25, in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey on Saturday, with the couple quickly updating their social media profiles to reflect their new family name.

But behind the scenes, insiders say the change has reopened painful memories for Eirianedd, 27 — who shares five-year-old son George with Adam.
The former couple welcomed their child in 2020 before splitting in 2022, nine months after Adam’s appearance on Strictly Come Dancing. At the time, Eirianedd reportedly suggested that George carry both parents’ surnames — a request she claims was rejected.
“It feels a bit rich to Eiri that Adam has been so quick to change his own name now, when he wouldn’t allow the same right for their son,” a source told The Sun.
Although she is said to have criticised the move as showing “double standards”, the insider added that Eirianedd still acknowledges Adam as a devoted father and says Holly has had a positive impact on George’s life.
“Holly dotes on George. Eiri knows she’s lucky that her son has such a caring stepmum — but that doesn’t erase the sting,” the source continued.
Adam wasted little time embracing the Ramsay-Peaty identity, updating his accounts to Adam Ramsay Peaty, with Holly also altering hers to HollyAnna Ramsay Peaty.
Another insider suggested the surname choice had more to do with wanting peace than making a statement, adding that Holly had always wanted a double-barrelled name and Adam simply followed suit.
However, the decision is said to have caused deep upset within Adam’s own family — who were largely absent from the wedding celebrations.
Only his sister Bethany, who served as a bridesmaid, attended the ceremony. His parents were reportedly uninvited, with new claims suggesting his father Mark was offered a late invitation but told he would be seated “at the back, behind the plus ones”.
The rift was laid bare further when reports emerged that Gordon Ramsay made a pointed dig at Adam’s parents during his father-of-the-bride speech, praising his wife Tana as the kind of mother Holly could aspire to be — before allegedly adding: “Shame you don’t have the same.”
Adam is also said to have failed to mention his parents in his own speech, instead describing his swim coach Mel Marshall as his “everything”.
Back in Staffordshire, Adam’s mother Caroline, 59, was described as “beside herself” with grief at missing her son’s big day, telling The Mail on Sunday: “I’m not going to be hurt like this again.”
In a heartbreaking twist, Adam was reportedly sent a devastating text from his aunt Louise just moments before walking into the abbey with George. The message read in part: “I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through… Shame on you both.”
The family breakdown is said to stem from September 2024, when wider members of the Peaty clan were excluded from the couple’s engagement party, followed by Caroline being left out of Holly’s glamorous hen do at Soho Farmhouse — an event attended by Tana Ramsay and celebrity friends including Victoria Beckham.
With name changes, family fallouts and old wounds resurfacing, what should have been the happiest chapter in Adam Peaty’s life is now clouded by questions — and one word that refuses to go away: hypocrisy.
