Heart Evangelista explains absence at Trillion Peso March rally

Heart Evangelista: “You think I don’t’ wanna be in the rally?”

Heart Evangelista: “I’m not in the rally because… a lot of people said you’ll strip me if I go to the rally.” 

Heart Evangelista expressed her anger regarding some netizens questioning why she was absent from the Trillion Peso March protest held on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

During the said protest rally, many artists joined the call against the rampant corruption occurring in the Philippines.

This follows the issue of flood control projects, where those who benefited from large funds were politicians, contractors, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In her Instagram Live yesterday, September 23, 2025, Heart responded to the criticisms being thrown at her.

This includes his alleged failure to join the protest against corruption.

The reason cited by other netizens is due to Heart’s husband, Senator Chiz Escudero’s connection to anomalous flood control projects.

Chiz’s campaign donor is Lawrence Lubiano, a contractor who owns Centerways Construction and Development, one of the 15 construction companies named by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that are allegedly involved in billions of pesos worth of flood control projects.

Chiz admitted that he received a PHP30 million campaign donation from Lubiano, but denied that he helped the contractor obtain flood-control projects.

Heart added: “I’m not in the rally because… a lot of people said they would strip me naked if I went to the rally.

“How cruel can you be?! What did I do?

“You’ll strip me naked at the rally.”

“I have nothing but to be a hardworking citizen, I have complied…”

Heart also did not hide her frustration because she was allegedly being made into a “casualty” and a “political tool of entertainment” by others.

Heart also said that she will not leave the country, especially amidst what is happening now.

He said he wanted to show solidarity with fellow Filipinos against rampant corruption in the country.

He also appealed: “I do hope that something will happen [after the rally], and I am praying for us all.

“I hope the Lord will guide those sitting here so they can do what is right. Do not stay silent. Speak up.”
