Heartbreaking Story in Sagay City: Graduating Student Murdered by His Own Father Shocks Public Opinion
A shocking incident has just occurred in Sagay City where a male student, preparing for graduation, was murdered by his own father. News spread quickly, leaving many shocked and heartbroken. The victim reportedly had many dreams and plans for the future. What caused the family conflict to escalate to an irreparable point? New details are gradually being revealed, making the story even more haunting.

17-year-old girl is just a few days away from graduating from senior high school and is already excited about choosing the course she will take when she enters college.  But Precious Harry’s dream will never come true because the young woman’s life was cut short and the one who painfully took her life was her own father.

Constantly beaten and spanked with a cane by his own father.  March 9, 2026 was dead. When the police office at the Sagay City Municipal Police Station received a call.  In the call, an elderly man asks them for help because his son allegedly beat his granddaughter. A group of Sagay City police immediately went to the area in Fortune Bill Subdivision in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City.

Inside this house with an orange gate, they were guided by color.  When they entered the compound, they entered a house that, although made of cement, was not yet painted.  According to the old man they spoke to, this was the house of his son, Joe Ven Braza or Janj.  When they learned that the victim and his father were still inside, they immediately called the police.

They tried knocking on the door but no one answered.  That’s why the police were forced to break down the door.  When the bedroom door opened, a shocking scene greeted them.  From the bed of the said sinid, there was a young woman lying there.  He was no longer moving and his face was bloody.  Meanwhile, on the side of the bed, there was a man who was dumbfounded.

He remained silent and just looked at the victim. The girl was identified as 17-year-old Precious Harry Baliwatro. Meanwhile, the man was identified as his father, Joey Vin Braza alias Janj. Emergency responders even tried to rush the victim to the hospital. However, due to the severe head injuries he sustained, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Aside from the body, the blood-stained motorcycle shock absorber used by the murder suspect was also found at the crime scene. Joe, or better known as Johnjan, went to the police station and immediately confessed to what he had done.  The victim was identified as Precious Harry Bali 4, 17 years old and was about to graduate from senior high school this March.

During the investigation conducted by the PNP, they learned that Harry grew up with his mother and was only two years old when he lived at the house of his grandparents on his father’s side. According to Precius’ mother, she was working in Boracay when she became pregnant with his child.  He was also born in Boracay .

When she became pregnant, she informed John Braza about it, but he did not acknowledge the child’s paternity.  Instead, he abandoned his bride even after she gave birth.  According to her, the man told her that her parents didn’t want to allow it at the time.  Therefore, Harry’s mother had no choice but to take on the responsibility of caring for and raising her son.

And to do that, he decided to work in Manila.  She left Harry with a relative while she supported him.  When Harry was one year old, he decided to return to Sagay City and settled in Santiago where his parents were.  In Santiago, Harry grew up to be a kind, respectful, and loving child. To continue supporting her child’s needs, especially in school, her mother decided to work in Cebu again.

Harry was left in the care of his grandparents in Santiago. For a long time, Harry’s father didn’t make any impression on them.  He did not provide support or even a little help for his studies.  Although his mother did not deny Harry his father’s personality.  That’s why he knows it.  However, Harry grew up far from his father and closer to his mother.

Until Harry graduated from high school in 2024. This time, Harry was borrowed by his grandparents on his father’s side who lived in Barangay Rizal.  Since his mother was in Cebu, they asked Harry to live with them and they would send him to senior high school and college. Harry’s father’s family was well-off, and thinking that it would improve their son’s status and bring him closer to his father, Harry’s mother agreed.

That’s why when he enrolled in senior high school, he lived at his grandparents’ house on his father’s side. Harry also tried to be close to his father, Janjan Brasa, a tricycle driver who lived next door to his grandparents’ house .  At first, the father-son relationship seemed okay until it took a while and problems emerged.

Even though he was in his father’s custody, Harry’s communication with his mother, who was working in Cebu at the time, was not cut off .  And every time he calls his mother, she always says there’s a problem. Some of the things he has complained about are their father-son relationship. He often scolded him and eventually got angry whenever Harry went to his grandparents’ house in Santiago.

Despite the understanding, Harry still stayed at his grandparents’ house and ignored his father, who also lived in the same compound.  March 9, 2026. According to the victim’s grandfather on his father’s side, Harry woke up early to prepare for school because it was Monday. While the young woman was getting ready, her father was also talking.

According to them, he was angry because his grandfather did not accompany him on his walk the previous day.  Another thing that upsets him is that the girl often comes home late and often goes to visit relatives in Santiago. Despite the Paninermon, the girl remained silent and continued her preparations to enter. When he left the house, he was about to go out the gate when his angry father pulled him inside his house.

Once inside, he locked the door and they only heard Harry scream in pain. Because of this, they immediately called the police.  As for the suspect’s statement, according to him, it is true that he and his son had an argument. He allegedly scolded her because she often came home late at night and always went out with her friends.

He also said that he was angry at the way his  father retorted and told him off.  According to her, he took a knife and tried to stab her, causing her to sustain a wound on her hand.  It is said that he got angry and grabbed the shock absorber of his motorcycle, which he hit on his head. The suspect also said that he had not been able to sleep for a week and that he was taking medication for depression.

The PNP report said there was no record of the suspect in their barangay.  He has no record of using illegal drugs and he also has no vices.  Currently, suspect Janjan John Braza is in the custody of the Sagay City Municipal Police Station and is facing a Pariside case. Meanwhile, Harry’s body was brought back to Santiago by his mother.

Harry’s mother is filled with grief because the son she cared for for a long time and raised despite extreme poverty would be killed by his own father, whom she had only known for two years .  Instead of making up for his shortcomings, he mercilessly took the girl’s life.
