For Team Ogie, Kim Chiu is their lucky charm in ‘Magpasikat 2024’
For “It’s Showtime” hosts Ogie Alcasid, Lassy and MC, Kim Chiu was the “lucky charm” that propelled them to victory in the 2024 edition of “Magpasikat.”
The “Fourtastic Combo” was crowned champions on Saturday, following their show-stopping performance that featured daring stunts as well as an important message to viewers — the value of taking time to breathe and rest amid struggles.
“Si Kim at si Pau [ang swerte] sa amin,” Alcasid jokingly said, moments after their victory.
“Nasama kami sa mga mahuhusay,” Lassy added.
The Chinita Princess, however, stressed the championship was a team effort.
“Nakakatakot stunts pero sobrang nakakatawa ng team na to kaya nakakawala ng pagod. Tamang timpla kami. Kaya itong moment na to sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam,” said Chiu, who is part of the winning team for the second year in a row.
For Chiu, the win was unexpected.
“Hashtag acceptance na kami eh,” she said, noting that they had the least time to rehearse in the studio among all teams. “Basta nagawa namin ng maayos ang production namin.”
After defying the odds, the “Fourtastic Combo” said the championship was a bonus. For Alcasid, what mattered most is that the audience understood the message that they tried to convey through their performance.
“Nabasa ko comments na naintindihan nila gusto namin sabihin more than anything else. Nakuha nila,” said Alcasid, a first-time Magpasikat winner.
“Damang-dama nila,” said Lassy.
The judges, including Gabbi Garcia, Donny Pangilinan, Alice Dixon, Direk Rory Quintos, and former ABS-CBN president Freddie “FMG” Garcia, admitted that they had a hard time choosing the top team.
“Bukod sa napagaling nila, the story telling kanila pinaka clear at talagang tumusok sa puso namin,” Garcia said.
The hosts will donate their prize worth P300,000 to the efforts of the Angat Buhay Foundation for those affected by Typhoon Kristine.
