Ella Langley’s Unplugged “Choosin’ Texas” Turns A Country Hit Into A Goosebump Moment

Ella Langley recently gave fans a fresh take on her hit song “Choosin’ Texas,” sharing a slowed-down acoustic version that has quickly captured attention online.

For anyone already hooked on the original track, this stripped-back rendition is hard to resist. On Tuesday, January 20, Langley posted a video on Instagram showing herself at home, performing the song with nothing but her guitar. The simple setting and relaxed pace put the focus squarely on her vocals and the emotion behind the lyrics.

In the caption, Langley expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support the song continues to receive and admitted she’s still in awe of how far it has gone.

“Every. Single. Day. Y’all are blowing me away with your love for this song,” she wrote. “We knew it was special the day we wrote it, but wow, I coulda never even imagined what’s happening right now ”

Fans immediately responded with praise, filling the comments with compliments and personal stories about how much the song means to them. Several listeners begged her to officially release the acoustic version, calling it beautiful, uplifting, and unforgettable.

Released back in October, “Choosin’ Texas” has become a defining moment in Langley’s career. Last month, the song climbed to No. 1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart, marking her first chart-topping single as a solo artist. It has also made history as the fastest-rising solo song at U.S. country radio this decade, breaking into the Top 10 in just eight weeks.

Even more surprising is how casually the song came to life. “Choosin’ Texas” was co-written by Langley and country superstar Miranda Lambert, and its inspiration came from an unexpected—and unforgettable—conversation.

Before the song’s official release, Langley teased it during several live shows. At one performance in Nashville, she shared the backstory, explaining that the idea was born during a writers’ retreat she attended with Lambert.

According to Langley, Lambert told a wild story involving a pet kangaroo, a dirt road, and a traffic stop—all while sporting Texas license plates. The bizarre details immediately stuck.

After hearing the story, inspiration hit almost instantly. Langley recalled lyrics forming in her head as she walked away, only for Lambert to jump in with her own twist on the idea. From there, the song came together quickly—Langley estimates it took about 30 minutes to finish.

With the acoustic version now circulating online, fans are getting to experience “Choosin’ Texas” in an entirely new way. If the reaction is any indication, listeners are more than ready to hear this softer version officially released.
