Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza shared how she has discovered more about herself this year as she started on a “clean slate.” In the latest YouTube vlog of award-winning actress Eugene Domingo, the P77 star admitted getting her groove back–– both physically and mentally.
It was earlier this year when Barbie surprised her fans as she revealed her breakup with longtime boyfriend, Jak Roberto. She admitted how it felt scary as she was “back to zero” but she realized how it could be a sign by the universe for her to explore other things.
“Well, starting this year, it was literally a clean slate. I thought it would be scary, like shocks, back to zero, where would I start because it was really a blank canvas. Maybe it was also the universe telling me to ‘try this’. It’s not a super blank canvas anymore because somehow, at the back of my head, I already have activities that I want to try. I already have ideas,” she shared.
The Kapuso star turned to other activities such as running, tennis, and pilates to focus on her healing journey. She also travelled to South Korea where she spent Valentine’s day alone. She expressed how thankful she is for the various sports she got into as she became physically stronger as well.

“Because of running and pilates, I feel the things I couldn’t carry before, the simple big suitcases –– I can carry them. My suitcase in Korea, I don’t have anyone with me, I can carry it alone. The strength, it’s there,” she said.
She then shared how the stars have aligned for her healing journey. During the first quarter of this year, she just had a few projects, giving her more time to experience life outside of work. It was because of this that she found confidence in herself once more.
“I believe in myself more now. That’s where I started: thinking like that, there’s nothing I can’t do. There are just things I really don’t want to do. All the things I feel like I want to do that I can’t do, I learned to do,” she explained.
While others may think that she cut her hair due to events that transpired in her real life, Barbie maintained that it was really because of the projects that she was part of. It worked in favor, as she shared how confident she now feels with her short hair and even wants to cut it shorter.
“Now that all my projects that required short hair are done, I feel like I’m very comfortable with it. I really enjoy wearing short hair; I even want to cut it even shorter. My self-confidence has also increased because I don’t worry too much about my hair, because it’s short,” she expressed.
Meanwhile, Barbie is set to star in the upcoming Netflix film, Kontrabida Academy, alongside Eugene, Jameson Blake, and Xyriel Manabat, among others. The film is written and directed by Chris Martinez and will be available on Netflix starting this month.
