Anne Curtis, Bianca Gonzalez, and Vice Ganda voice frustration amid corruption issues on flood control projects

Anne Curtis, Bianca Gonzalez, and Vice Ganda took to social media to voice their frustrations amid the issues of corruption related to flood control projects.

On social media platform X, Anne opened up about the pain she felt after watching award-winning journalist Jessica Soho’s recent report on the issue.

“When Mam @KM_JessicaSoho said, ‘It’s not the flood that will sink our country, but greed,’ it hurts 😞😞,” the actress wrote.

Meanwhile, Bianca called out the children of corrupt officials who flaunt their extravagant lifestyles online, while many Filipinos struggle to make ends meet.

“My feed filled with posts on the lavish lifestyle of kids of corrupt officials…. and here we are, those without generational wealth or stolen wealth, who are scrambling every day, who are sometimes even shy about posting about travel or purchases because they might seem ‘boastful’, 😳how is that,” she wrote. on X.

Meanwhile, Vice Ganda shared how he had to be frugal during his London trip, while lamenting that the taxes he pays are being corrupted.

“I’m super frugal here in London because things are expensive. So we just went shopping on the first day and cooked here at Airbnb. We’ve been reheating this leftover adobo for the third day. Then I suddenly remembered my millions of taxes that are being divided up by these blatant thieves… Ouch!!!!” he posted on his Instagram Stories.

On August 11 during a press conference, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. questioned why only 15 contractors managed to corner 20 percent of nearly 10,000 flood projects since 2022, noting that more than half failed to provide details on what structures were being built. He also pointed out suspiciously uniform project costs despite varying locations and terrain, and the concentration of projects in areas not considered highly flood prone.

On August 19, The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) admitted there were “ghost” flood control projects and vowed to investigate them.
