Content creator and car enthusiast Angie Mead King shared a video showing the exact moment her sports car caught fire while she was driving along South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), saying it needed an entire fire truck to get extinguished.

On her Instagram account on Friday, Nov. 8, King posted a clip of the incident, where she can be seen vlogging and navigating her red Honda NSX on the road.

“People were saying I was driving really fast when I wasn’t. I tried to save my OBD scanner in the back of the car also but it was burnt to a crisp. The car was in break in mode and I was vlogging how happy I was until I caught,” she wrote in the caption.

In the first part of the clip, King was excitedly talking about her sports car and raving about its technical features. “It’s so much fun to drive,” she said.

She went on to share that one of the reasons she bought the vehicle is that it reminds her of the Ferrari F40. She also took pride that renowned racer Ayrton Senna and McLaren designer Gordon Murray have also driven the same model.

“This car has so much heritage, so much soul, and this is what I like,” she said in her vlog.

In the middle of her ride, she saw the rear part of the car on fire through her rearview mirror and immediately pulled over as she tried to save some of her belongings, including her bag, laptop, and camera.

The content creator assured her followers she’s doing fine after what happened in a separate post. She also shared photos and clips of her burning car while she waited for help.

“Oh my god, this is f***ing insane, I’ve never had a car burn on me,” she was heard saying in one of the videos.

“It was a short lived experience and I think the NSX is a pure driver’s car. One day, I’ll get another one, for sure, but for now I’ll live another day,” King wrote in her caption.

King gave a special mention to a “good samaritan” who picked her up on SLEX. She also said, “The fire, towing and SLEX police were amazing and wanted to thank them for the speedy service.”

“This was traumatic to say the least and a fire extinguisher wouldn’t have put out the flames at all,” she concluded her post.

In a chat with PhilSTAR L!fe on Friday, Nov. 8, King said the car “is composite so it caught fire fast.”

“A fire truck came to extinguish it,” she said, adding that the response time was around 35 minutes. It also took the responders around 20 minutes to put out the fire.

“If it happens to you, make sure to park safely and get out of the car as soon as possible,” she continued.

Dubbed the Acura NSX, King’s automobile is a two-seater, rear mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car manufactured by Honda. Its first generation was presented back in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. Years later in 2012, Honda officially unveiled its successor at the 2012 North American International Auto Show, introducing it as the Acura NSX Concept.
