Angel Locsin Ends Social Media Hiatus After Two Years

We’ve finally caught a glimpse of Angel Locsin and no, it’s not a throwback post or a post from her friend. The actress officially paused her social media hiatus after two years.

Interestingly, it took one hacker to trigger new digital footprints from Angel. ICYMI, on January 14, her husband, Neil Arce, made rounds online notifying the public that Angel’s X (formerly Twitter) account had been hacked. Online users got really concerned at first after they noticed Angel’s account to have been responding to some tweets (one was positively replying to Elon Musk). ICYDK, Angel’s X account currently has 12.3 million followers.

And Neil assured her fans that they were trying to retrieve Angel’s account. This is despite the actress’ hiatus not just from social media, but actually from showbiz as well.

Almost 24 hours after Neil’s posts, Angel’s account @143redangel posted, “Hello everyone. Long time no chat. I just wanna say I have recovered my X account (totoo na to, pramis) Thank you sa mga tumulong and @X for helping. I miss you all and ingat lagi.” Seems legit, right? But fans were skeptical enough to believe it, LOL.

One follower wrote, “Pag na-confirm ‘to ni Neil Arce, tsaka ako maniniwala,” while quoting Angel’s first X post in more than two years.

Angel right away quoted the mentioned tweet with a cool, “Mahal ko, paki confirm @neil_arce.” How sweet is that?? Like the adoring husband he is, Neil really confirmed it with a simple reply, “account recovered!” and a hand over the mouth laughing emoji. All is well now.

Angel Locsin’s showbiz hiatus

What we’re curious about though is if Angel will be staying active for the time being. Angel’s last posts on her official X and Instagram accounts were about her good friend Angelica Panganiban‘s baby shower in August 2022. Believe it or not, that was also the last time that she was officially seen in public.

It was around that time that her indefinite hiatus even on her acting career took a serious turn. Angel’s last acting project was the teleserye, The General’s Daughter, which aired and ended in 2019. And then, we all know how the pandemic hit just about everyone, pausing most of the entertainment industry for a while.

But as TV series and films started to pick up in 2021, Angel didn’t have a comeback as an actress. Several months later, fans then noticed Angel’s hiatus. From time to time, one of her best friends, Dimples Romana, would be asked by the media for updates about Angel.

In October 2023, Dimples opened up about how Angel personally decided to take a break from social media and show business. Dimples underscored how happy she is for Angel who is also enjoying life as a married woman. “She’s very selfless […] I’m very happy that she’s taking this time off kasi nakita mo naman kapag nag-trabaho ‘yung taong ‘yun at grabe din ‘yun lumaban sa mga pandemya noon, virus, mga bagyo,” Dimples noted. 

For Dimples, Angel bravely took the road less traveled by celebs. “Don’t we all wish that? Alam mo kung kaya ko ‘yung gawin, gagawin ko e. Pero hindi natin kaya. Only Angel Locsin can do that,” she proclaimed.
