The New Orleans Saints are predicted to cut ties with a multiple-time Pro Bowler who has spent his entire career with the franchise through a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
FanSided’s Christopher Kline believes New Orleans will trade running back Alvin Kamara to the Chiefs this offseason, ending his nine-year run with the Saints.

Here is what Kline had to say about Kamara and his potential fit in Kansas City:
“The Kansas City Chiefs are the clean and easy fit, especially if New Orleans proves willing to absorb any of Kamara’s remaining deal. The veteran running back ought to land on a contender. His pass-catching should prove useful to Patrick Mahomes, who doesn’t have much of a rapport with current RB1 Isiah Pacheco. Kamara is no longer the superstar of yore, but as a change-of-pace option with experience and versatility, the Chiefs can get plenty of mileage out of him.”
Kamara playing in Andy Reid’s offense would be scary for opposing defenses.
Though the 30-year-old doesn’t possess the same explosiveness and big-play ability, Kamara can still be a productive player in the right scheme, and his versatility as a ball carrier and pass catcher will always be valuable.
Adding Kamara to the Chiefs’ running back room would give quarterback Patrick Mahomes a legitimate receiving threat out of the backfield and a savvy veteran talent. Though 2025 was rough, Kamara is just one year removed from a near-1,500 scrimmage-yard season in 2024.
If New Orleans decides to trade Kamara and revamp their backfield, Kansas City should make a move for the Tennessee product. Kamara would take the Chiefs’ offense to new heights, and he still has some juice left.
Additionally, the 2017 third-round pick has just one year left on his deal, so there isn’t much risk for the Chiefs in acquiring Kamara and seeing how he plays in the final season of his contract.
