SAD NEWS: Ex-Chіefѕ RB Iѕіаh Pаcheco Sendѕ Emotіonаl Goodbye to Kаnѕаѕ Cіty After Lіonѕ Move

Detroit, MI. The NFL offseason often brings difficult goodbyes, and one of the most emotional departures of the week came when a former Kansas City Chiefs running back officially began a new chapter with the Detroit Lions.

The move comes after Detroit sought a new partner in the backfield alongside star running back Jahmyr Gibbs following the trade of David Montgomery to the Houston Texans.

The Lions quickly turned to a familiar championship-tested name to fill that void.

That player is Isiah Pacheco, the former Chiefs running back who helped Kansas City capture multiple Super Bowl titles during the franchise’s recent dynasty run.

The 27-year-old now joins Detroit with hopes of revitalizing his career and bringing his relentless running style to the Lions’ offense.

Shortly after news of the move became public, Pacheco shared an emotional message to the city where his NFL journey truly took shape.

“Kansas City will always be special to me. Chiefs Kingdom embraced me from the very first day I walked into that locker room. I gave everything I had every time I wore that jersey, and I’ll forever be grateful for the love, the energy at Arrowhead, and the memories we created together.”

Pacheco’s story in Kansas City was one of the most inspiring draft success stories of the past decade. Selected with the 251st pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, he quickly proved that draft position meant little once he stepped onto the field.

By the middle of his rookie season, Pacheco had already seized the starting role and became a key piece of the Chiefs’ offense. His explosive running style, fearless attitude, and high energy quickly made him a fan favorite inside Arrowhead Stadium.

He played a significant role in helping Kansas City secure back-to-back Super Bowl championships, cementing his place in one of the most successful eras in franchise history.

At his peak in 2023, Pacheco delivered a career-best season with 935 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns.

However, injuries slowed his momentum. A broken fibula suffered early in the 2024 season forced him to miss ten games, and he never fully regained the same explosiveness afterward.

With Kansas City recently reshaping its backfield by bringing in Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, the opportunity opened for Pacheco to find a new home where he could restart his career.

Detroit believes that environment could help him thrive again. Paired with the dynamic Gibbs, the Lions are hoping Pacheco’s physical downhill running can add balance and toughness to an offense already known for its explosiveness.

For Kansas City fans, though, Pacheco’s farewell served as a reminder of how much heart he brought to the field every Sunday. He may now wear a different jersey, but his connection with Chiefs Kingdom clearly remains.

And if his message is any indication, the memories created in Arrowhead will follow him wherever his career takes him next.

SOME PERFORMANCES ARE NOT MEANT FOR JUDGES — THEY’RE MEANT FOR HEAVEN. Hannah Harper didn’t just sing on American Idol. She grieved out loud — in front of millions. Her grandfather, Pawpaw Lew, never got to see her stand in that Top 30 spotlight. He passed before the moment arrived. But her grandmother was right there in the audience, tears falling from the very first breath of Go Rest High on That Mountain. One judge compared her voice to Dolly Parton. The crowd went still. But it wasn’t the talent that shattered people. It was knowing who that song was really for — and why every note carried so much weight.
