Carrie Underwood Is Full of Gratitude This Thanksgiving

Carrie Underwood is full of gratitude this Thanksgiving. The 42-year-old is grateful for a lot of things, but especially her husband, Mike Fisher, and their two sons, ten-year-old Isaiah, and Jacob, who is six.

“I am grateful for so many things this Thanksgiving,” Underwood gushes. “I think the thing I’m most grateful for, though, is family. I mean, that’s what it’s all about, and that’s what this life is all about. I’m blessed to have two incredible boys that I get to take care of and that love on me daily, and they’re just giant blessings in my life, and of course, my extended family, as well. That’s what this time of year’s all about – getting together and just realizing how blessed we all are.”

Underwood’s favorite part of Thanksgiving is the time spent with her loved ones, and the delicious food.

“We don’t have too many set-in-stone Thanksgiving traditions,” says the singer. “I find myself a lot of times working on or around Thanksgiving or unable to get home or whatever. We try to be together, but sometimes that just doesn’t work out. But I think it’s just about, we eat.

“I eat a lot every year on Thanksgiving,” she adds with a laugh. “I never skip THAT tradition. But yeah, that’s the gist of it, and I’m kind of lucky. I get two Thanksgivings, because I also get to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with my husband’s family, so if I don’t hit one, I’ll definitely be able to get the other one.”

Carrie Underwood Makes History As An Artist

Underwood just made history in music, when she became the highest RIAA-certified female artist of all time, of any genre, with a total of over 95 million units sold.

“I am so just humbled, and I’m so grateful of this recognition that is 20 years in the making,” Underwood said of the honor. “It not only represents my part of this career, but of course all of the songwriters and producers and musicians, and all of the audio engineers, and the band that plays it every night on stage with me. Hundreds of people that were involved every step of the way in making this music. And of course, none of it would be possible without fans from everywhere that have been with me for the past 20 years, just supporting and listening to, coming to the shows and buying the records and streaming and downloading and all that stuff.”

Carrie Underwood Returns to ‘American Idol’

Underwood will return early next year for her second season as a judge on American Idol, joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Her inaugural season earlier this year came 20 years after she was first a contestant, winning Season 4 in 2005.

“I owe my career to American Idol,” Underwood tells People. “It has been such an important part of my life, and I will always be grateful for that. Coming back as a judge 20 years later is such a special full-circle moment for me, and it’s meant a lot to share that journey with the people that have been there from the beginning, as well as a whole new generation of Idol fans.”

Next season’s former Hollywood Week will now take place in Nashville instead, for one round only.

THE STATLER BROTHERS SOLD OVER 100 MILLION RECORDS — AND LAST NIGHT, THEY “SANG TOGETHER” ONE MORE TIME. It dropped at midnight like a quiet miracle — the last Statler Brothers song ever recorded. All four voices. Even Harold’s. His unreleased vocal was found, restored, and woven in so perfectly that people swear they can feel him standing right behind the other three. The moment you press play, time just… folds. His voice warms up the room like he never stepped away. It doesn’t sound like a “lost recording.” It sounds like four brothers finding each other again. And for a few minutes, heaven feels close enough to touch. The Statler Brothers didn’t return — they simply kept singing.

“AT 91… HE ONLY NEEDED ONE MORE NIGHT TO SAY EVERYTHING HIS HEART STILL HELD.” People always say Willie Nelson is untouchable — a legend who’ll outlive time itself. But that night… he didn’t look like an icon. He looked like a man holding on to the few nights he might have left. His voice trembled. His eyes softened. And then he whispered, “I just want to hold this one close while I still can.” The whole arena froze. No cheers. No noise. Just thousands of people trying to breathe through the lump in their throat. It wasn’t a concert anymore. It was 91 years of life folded into one fragile moment… before he smiled, lifted his guitar, and kept singing. A night everyone there knew… would never happen again.

NO ONE BELIEVED A GUITAR STRING COULD CHANGE THE COURSE OF COUNTRY MUSIC — UNTIL IT DID. It was a gray morning at a small bus stop in Kentucky when Maybelle Carter dropped a single guitar string without even noticing. She was tired from the road — another show, another crowd — and that tiny string slipped into the dust like nothing at all. A boy named Johnny Cash, barefoot and quiet, happened to be there. He picked it up, turned it in his hands, and for reasons he couldn’t explain, kept it in his pocket. It was just a string… or maybe something more. Years later, when Johnny stood on stage dressed in black, his voice carried that same echo — the weight of faith, sorrow, and something ancient. Some folks said that the sound of Maybelle’s guitar lived on through him. Others called it coincidence. But those who knew the story whispered: “That wasn’t just a string. That was a beginning.”

They say every legend begins with a single moment — something so small, so ordinary, that nobody notices it until years later, when it suddenly makes sense. For Johnny…

“THE FIRST NOTE HIT… AND EVERY HEART IN THE ROOM DROPPED AT THE SAME TIME.” The moment the tribute screen lit up, Toby’s voice—fragile, breath-worn, but steady—slipped into “Cryin’ for Me.” It was the one he recorded alone, the one where the grief wasn’t cleaned up for radio, the one where you could hear the friend he lost sitting in the silence between every word. The room didn’t move. Not the family. Not the band. Not a single person who understood what it means to lose someone you never got to say enough to. And when his voice cracked on the line he always avoided live, the whole place breathed in like it hurt. Because in that moment, “Cryin’ for Me” wasn’t a tribute anymore— it was the sound of a man finally letting go.
