“AFTER JUST 2 MONTHS, THIS SONG FINALLY GOT ITS EXPLOSIVE MOMENT.” Ella Langley didn’t just sing — she shook the whole CMA stage. The moment she walked out in that bright red cowgirl outfit, sparkling with tiny stars, the crowd lifted their heads like they knew something big was coming. “Choosin’ Texas” hit with power, and the two dancers spinning through a smooth two-step made the stage feel like a little piece of Texas under the lights. There was something real in the way she held the mic — steady, fearless, almost saying, “I’m ready.” The song was already a fan favorite since October, but tonight? It blew wide open. And everyone there knew it… Ella Langley just claimed her CMA moment.

Ella Langley Shines With Debut CMA Performance of “Choosin’ Texas”

After scoring an impressive six nominations at the 2025 CMA Awards, it came as no surprise that Ella Langley was invited to take the stage for a live performance. With her star rapidly rising, the Alabama-born singer made a powerful impression during country music’s biggest night.

Six CMA Nominations — A Breakout Year

When this year’s CMA nominees were announced on September 8, Langley found herself at the top of the pack. She tied with Lainey Wilson and Megan Moroney for the most nominations, earning six total:

  • New Artist of the Year
  • Music Video of the Year
  • Musical Event of the Year
  • Song of the Year
  • Single of the Year
  • Female Vocalist of the Year

Fans watching the CMA Awards on November 19 not only witnessed how many trophies Langley took home — they were also treated to a stunning performance of her brand-new single, “Choosin’ Texas.”

Released on October 17, “Choosin’ Texas” is a slow, twangy reflection on longing and love. But the song’s inspiration? Surprisingly funny.

Miranda Lambert shared a playful (and slightly chaotic) story with Langley that sparked the idea:

She once drove down a dirt road with her pet kangaroo in the back seat and her dog up front. Things escalated when a police officer pulled her over — kangaroo and all — with Lambert laughing, “Of course I had Texas plates on the back of my car.”

The story immediately lit a creative spark. Langley recalled:

“I started humming, ‘She’s from Texas, I can tell by the way he’s two-steppin’ around the room.’ Miranda stopped and said, ‘Wait a minute…’ And from there, the song fell out in about 30 minutes.”

A Texas-Style Performance at the CMAs

Leading up to the ceremony, Langley teased her performance to Taste of Country:

“There’s going to be some dancing. You’re going to feel the longing the song describes — missing that person, whether it’s where they’re living or who they want to be with.”

She promised two-stepping — and she delivered.

Taking the stage in a cowgirl-inspired outfit featuring fringed red pants adorned with glittering stars, Langley embodied the spirit of Texas. As she performed, two dancers showcased a blend of country swing and classic two-step choreography, adding energy and storytelling to the moment.

Fans have embraced “Choosin’ Texas” since its release, and her live CMA performance has only amplified the excitement surrounding the song.

“JERRY, I JUST NEED YOU TO TEACH ME THIS ONE PART.” — “NOPE. IF I TEACH YOU… I’M TEACHING THE WHOLE SONG.” One lazy afternoon, Willie Nelson asked Jerry Reed to show him a small section for that night’s show. Jerry listened, flipped his hair back, and burst out laughing. “Willie, I don’t sell inspiration by the piece. If I’m teaching… I’m teaching all of it.” So the two of them sat backstage for over an hour, passing the guitar back and forth like two kids who’d just discovered the world’s best toy. That night, the stage didn’t shine because everything was perfect. It shined because it was them — a little wild, a little messy, and so honest that the audience carried it home in their hearts.

One lazy afternoon somewhere backstage in Nashville, Willie Nelson looked across the room at Jerry Reed and said in his soft, trademark drawl: “Jerry, I just need…

SHOCK ERUPTED ACROSS THE ACMs when Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, and Reba McEntire walked out together like a storm nobody saw coming. One second the crowd was talking… the next, 6,000 people were frozen, eyes wide, like someone had pulled the air out of the room. What was supposed to be a simple tribute turned into a firestorm — voices soaring, lights shaking, the kind of moment you feel in your chest before you hear it. Right in the middle was Blake Shelton, laughing, wiping his face, jumping to his feet like a kid seeing his heroes for the first time. By the time they finished, the arena was chaos — cheers, tears, arguments, phones everywhere. People aren’t calling it “the greatest ACM moment of the decade” for nothing.
