A PROJECT THAT WILL CHANGE THE FACE OF DAVAO: PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS’ MODERN BUS SYSTEM

Amidst the issues facing the country—from traffic, to the ever-changing public transportation system, to development problems—a project has suddenly caught the attention not only of Davao residents but also of the entire Philippines. The so-called Davao Modern Bus System , an innovative project of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. together with DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon , is set to open in 2027 —a major step towards transforming the public transportation system in Mindanao.

At first glance, this seems like just an ordinary government project. But as the discussion deepens, it becomes clear that this is not just a simple modernization of buses but a blueprint for the new Davao — a city moving in the direction of discipline, order, and progressive living.

AN INSPECTION THAT SURPRISED EVERYONE

On an unexpected day, President Marcos and Secretary Dizon personally inspected Kalinan , Davao City. This move came as a surprise to many, especially since the project had been delayed for several years. Many said that Davao had been left out of the modern transportation agenda, but the Marcos administration proved that they would not allow the city to be left behind.

According to Secretary Dizon, they are serious about completing the project before the end of 2026 , so that it can fully open in 2027. He also said that they aim to make Davao an example of a modern public system—a model that other cities in the Philippines can follow.

THE PATH OF CHANGE

The planned Davao Modern Bus System route is not a random one. From Katalunan Pequeño to Sasa , it will pass through major areas such as Ulas, Matina, and Bajada —traffic hubs that plague Davaoeños every day. With the new system, the previously two-hour trip could be reduced to just thirty minutes.

Aside from being an electric bus system , it will also have fixed schedules , an integrated ticketing system , and modern terminals similar to those seen in countries like Singapore and South Korea. This is the first time in Davao’s history that it will have this level of modern public transportation.

THE PUBLIC BUS DRIVING ACADEMY

But the project doesn’t end there. For the first time in the country, the Public Bus Driving Academy will be built in Davao — an institution that aims to train drivers not just to drive, but to become professional, disciplined, and safe service providers.

The academy aims to change the image of passenger drivers—from being just “chauffeurs” to being guardians of public safety and comfort . Through proper training, it is expected that accidents will decrease and the quality of service will increase.

A “GAME CHANGER” IN DAVAO

According to the President, this project is not just for Davao but for the entire country. “If we succeed in this,” he said, “this will be the model of the modern transport system of the Philippines.”

This is more than an infrastructure project . It is a promise—a legacy that will continue for generations to come. When it is completed, it will not only transform the roads but also the citizens’ vision of how a city should function.

THE SPIRITUAL ASPECT

But beyond concrete projects, speakers at the event also reminded us that the true path to development is not only material, but also moral and spiritual. In one part of the speech, the words from 1 John 5:11-12 were quoted :

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

It was pointed out that as we look forward to the opening of the new transportation system in 2027, let’s not forget the more important road — the road to eternal life through Jesus Christ.

A PRAYER FOR THE NEW DAVAO

After the speech, there was a short prayer. The leaders and citizens prayed that God would guide the project , may it be a symbol of unity and hope. According to the prayer:

“Lord, help us to focus our attention on You. We are not just earthly beings, but heavenly beings with You as our guide. Forgive us for our shortcomings and sins. Thank you for life, for love, and for hope.”

THE FUTURE

Currently, preparations and construction are ongoing. It is expected that upon completion, more than 800,000 commuters will benefit daily. The project will provide thousands of jobs, cleaner air due to electric buses, and smoother traffic flow.

For the people of Davao, this is not just a simple change in the transportation system—it is a symbol of upliftment, of hope, and of a new era for the region.

And as the year 2027 approaches, everyone is gradually awakening to the fact that true modernization is not only measured by the beauty of infrastructure, but also by discipline, faith, and love for the nation.

Under the leadership of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, the Davao Modern Bus System is not just a project—it is a legacy of new hope .

THREE GENERATIONS OF WILLIAMS BLOOD IN ONE VOICE: At a private gathering in Nashville, Holly Williams stood alone on stage and sang “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” — the song her grandfather Hank Williams Sr. wrote, the song her father Hank Jr. carried for decades, and the song she now holds in her own hands. No band. No backup singers. Just one woman, one guitar, and a last name that weighs more than most people will ever understand. Hank Jr. sat in the second row. He didn’t clap between verses. “I’VE SAID WHAT I NEEDED TO SAY.” — KRIS KRISTOFFERSON WALKED OFF STAGE ONE NIGHT AND NEVER CAME BACK. There was no farewell tour. No grand announcement. No final bow with tears and standing ovations. Kris Kristofferson — the man who wrote songs that felt like prayers and lived like poetry — simply stopped showing up under the lights. After decades of filling rooms with words that cut straight to the bone, he let the silence speak for him. No one could point to one night and say, “That was it. That was the last time.” And maybe that’s what makes it haunt you. Because his kind of music doesn’t end when the stage goes dark — it lingers, it waits, it finds you when you least expect it.
