Amidst the worsening tension in the country and the continued rise of public anger over issues surrounding the administration, Congressman Kiko Barsaga took a bold step — allegedly filing an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for alleged “betrayal of public trust.”

According to the congressman, it is time for the president to be held accountable for irregularities in flood control projects that are allegedly full of anomalies, corruption, and negligence. His statement was made in a viral Facebook live that immediately went viral on social media, with the hashtags #MarcosResign and #PimplePower trending.

“With every peso stolen, with every false promise made, there are citizens who are gradually filled with anger. This is not just noise — this is the cry of hearts that have been deceived, starved, and abandoned,” said Barsaga.

The live video prompted a strong reaction from the public. Many expressed support for the congressman, calling him a “true voice of the people,” while others called for the government to fully address the corruption allegations.

On the other hand, Barsaga’s anger stems from the administration’s apparent lack of concrete action on the issues facing the country. He asserted that officials are only doing “reviews” and “press conferences,” but without any clear results.

“Every day, it’s just a press conference. The question is: has anyone been jailed? Has anyone gotten the people’s money back?” the congressman boldly asked.

In his speech, Barsaga also did not miss the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which he said should be given attention due to repeated funding anomalies. He also criticized officials who are too busy with media exposure than real service to the people.

At the same time, the congressman expressed his disappointment with Ombudsman Boying Remulla after he announced that he would review the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Barsaga, the Ombudsman’s priorities are wrong because instead of investigating current anomalies, it is prioritizing past issues.

“Your job is to put current thieves in jail, not those who are already in jail!” Barsaga stated firmly.

After Remulla’s statement, Vice President Sara Duterte immediately responded , with a sharp response:

“Don’t look at it anymore. Put it in front of you, study it, and do what you want.”

Duterte’s bold response drew praise from his supporters, who said that “the conscience of a person who has not stolen anything is open.” According to them, the SALN issue is being used as a “diversion” to divert public attention from the country’s current problems.

Meanwhile, Barsaga also criticized the congressmen who voted to cut the budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) , saying it is not right to treat Duterte like a student being scolded by his parents.

“If you are the parent, and the gift you gave was only a small one, do you have the right to ask where the gift was taken? You should view her as a mother of the nation, not a child being taught a lesson,” the congressman added.

For Barsaga, the mentality of some lawmakers who consider themselves “higher” than the Vice President is wrong. He said that despite all the criticism, Duterte is still doing his job — quietly but actively.

As the protests continue on social media and in the streets, the call for government accountability seems to be growing stronger . Many believe that press conferences and explanations are no longer enough, but that concrete results are needed — justice for the people.
