Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs aimed for their third win of the 2025 NFL season in Week 5, hitting the road to face Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars on “Monday Night Football.” The Chiefs got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 14-0 lead behind a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Kelce, the tight end’s second of the season, followed by a Mahomes rushing score.

Early in the second quarter, the Jaguars had the ball at the 1-yard line and were poised to score when Lawrence fumbled as he tried to cross the goal line, giving Kansas City possession. On the third play of the ensuing drive, Mahomes connected with Hollywood Brown for a 16-yard catch and run. During the play, Kelce delivered a key block on Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard with a slight shove to the back before colliding with linebacker Devin Lloyd.

While no flag was thrown, officials could have ruled the play a blindside block, which would have resulted in a 15-yard penalty. Still, Kelce could face a fine in the coming days. Under NFL rules, players can be fined up to $17,389 for a first blindside block offense, with the penalty increasing to $23,186 for a second.

The NFL has already handed out five fines for blindside blocks this season. In fact, the NFL charged three players for a blindside block in Week 4 alone, including Buffalo’s Dorian Williams ($7,989), Jacksonville’s Maason Smith ($10,124) and Philadelphia’s Jalyx Hunt ($6,834).

Kelce has already been disciplined once this season, receiving a $14,491 fine after the Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles for celebrating with an “obscene gesture.” Throughout his 13-year NFL career, the former Cincinnati Bearcats star has been fined 10 times, totaling $133,918.

Following the Week 5 matchup with Jacksonville, Kelce and the Chiefs will return home for their next game against the Detroit Lions.
