The Kansas City Chiefs have a record of 2-2 heading into the team’s Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jags on Monday, October 6, but it almost seems like their record is better, because they have momentum on their side. Even though the Kansas City Chiefs‘ season got off to a rocky start, at 0-2, they totally blew out the Baltimore Ravens last weekend and pulled off a 37-20 win.
So, things are looking up for the Chiefs, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems ready to take on the Jags. The only thing that could really take the Chiefs down at this point would be come unexpected injuries, whether they’re for Mahomes or another one of the team’s starters.
Well, as it turns out, Mahomes actually showed up on the Chiefs’ injury report on Thursday, October 2. So, let’s get into the report and what this means, if anything, for the team’s game on Sunday against Jacksonville.
Patrick Mahomes is on the Kansas City Chiefs’ Injury Report
Mahomes was named on the Kansas City Chiefs‘ injury report released on Thursday ahead of the team’s Week 5 matchup against the Jags on Monday Night Football. According to the report, he’s dealing with a groin injury. Previously, he appeared on Kansas City’s injury reports due to an injury to his right wrist.
But, the good news is that even with the groin issue, Mahomes was a full participant in the Kansas City Chiefs‘ workouts on Thursday. Also, right now, it doesn’t seem as if Mahomes will be forced to miss any time with this injury. If, for some reason, the groin injury gets worse in the next few days, the Chiefs‘ only other active quarterback on the roster is Gardner Minshew.
Honors for Patrick Mahomes in the AFC
In other news, the Chiefs made a special anouncement on Wednesday, October 1, dropping the news that Mahomes had been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.On Instagram, the Chiefs noted, “A dominant performance. Congrats to Patrick Mahomes on being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.”
According to the Kansas City Chiefs, during the game, Mahomes became the youngest player in NFL history to 250 career touchdown passes. Mahomes fired four touchdown passes on Sunday, making him the youngest player – at 30 years and 11 days old – in NFL history to hit the 250 career touchdowns mark,” senior team reporter Matt McMullen said.
McMullen added, “Additionally, Mahomes did so in just 116 career regular-season games, making him the fastest player in league history to hit that mark, too. Mahomes passed Dan Marino in terms of age and Aaron Rodgers in games played in those respective record books.”
Worthy also had a big game back on Sunday. The player, who has been out with a shoulder injury, had a team-leading 121 total yards from scrimmage. He led the Chiefs in receiving (83 yards) and rushing (38 yards) on Sunday, averaging a ridiculous 17.3 yards-per-touch,” the Chiefs’ site notes.
So, things are looking up for the Kansas City Chiefs. That’s so long as the team stays healthy, and hopefully they will.
