“SHOCKING TURN OF EVENTS: VP Sara Duterte Leaves ‘Persona Non Grata’ Call on Vice Ganda to Davao Council—What Does This Mean for Their Relationship?”
VICE President Sara Duterte said it would be up to the Davao City Council to decide whether to declare comedian Vice Ganda persona non grata following his controversial remarks in a recent concert.
In an interview, Duterte said she had not seen the clip where Vice made the joke.
“But whatever the decision is in the city council of Davao, it has to be a majority decision. And the city council of Davao is the correct body to declare a person persona non grata here in our city because they are the representative of the three districts of Davao City,” she said.
The remark came after Duterte supporters called for the comedian to be barred from the city over a skit in which he referenced former President Rodrigo Duterte’s 2016 jet ski remark on the West Philippine Sea and mentioned his supposed detention in The Hague.
In a separate statement, Davao City Acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II said the city would not be sidetracked by such remarks.
“Davao City will not be distracted by cheap insults and distasteful jokes made for clout,” he said.
