John Rendez considers Nora Aunor as the person who needs him the most

Nora Aunor admits she has done nothing to John Rendez’s career as his manager.

John Rendez on strong bond with Superstar Nora Aunor: “I, I don’t think about myself. Because, I want her to see that I won’t leave her no matter what they say. Not for any purpose, whether I have money or not. Because what, eh… that’s Ate Guy. I love that, right? I love her more than I love other people, right? Because when you’re friends, it’s not just words. You can see it in the actions, eh.” Nora Aunor has been managing her friend John Rendez’s career for thirty-four (34) years. John was only eighteen (18) years old when National Artist and Superstar Ate Guy started managing him. John is now fifty-two (52) years old. Ate Guy’s 70th birthday celebration on May 20, 2023 at the Seda Vertis North Hotel, John disappeared immediately and was unable to give a message to the celebrant.

“I’m shy. I’m so shy,” John said softly on August 12, Saturday, at Edward dela Cuesta’s studio on Sct. Tuason St., Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City.

 

“Then he’s always with me. He can see what’s going on,” John replied with a smile.

He didn’t listen to Ate Guy’s pleas to family members and followers to love John.

“I heard. It’s OK. It’s her time, it’s her family’s time, I don’t want to interfere. I don’t want to intrude,” John said.

“I like it, I’m ‘family first’, eh. It’s for the family, I don’t interfere with them. I’ll just be on the side.

“I have my own thing also, but you know, we are family naman, e. That’s why I’m always there by the side…”

At least things are settled. John helped organize Ate Guy’s birthday celebration.

WHAT CAN JOHN RENDEZ OFFER AS AN ACTOR-SINGER?

John stars in the action drama film  Tomacruz… Sa Puso , produced by Nora under NA Film Productions. It does not have a theatrical release. It has reportedly been bought by GMA-7.

John is also in the cast of the horror movie  Ligalig , which features Nora, Allen Dizon, and Snooky Serna.

Next month, Star Music will release John’s new single, the pop/R&B single “Why Can’t We Ever Get Along” with lyrics written by John himself.

On October 30, John was an awardee at the World Class Excellence Japan (WCEJA) at the New Otan Hotel in Fukuoka, Japan.

At this point in his showbiz career, does John still have much to offer as a singer-actor?

 

 

“Yeah, yeah. I’m still the same person I was 20, 30 years ago. And in fact, I feel like I just came out of the cave,” John said.

“Para akong naging ermitanyo, e. But I came out with a lot of i ner wisdom and a lot of self-reflecting, and a lot of plans.

“Okay, we did it this way, and it really messed up. Now we’re going to do it the right way, and we learned it.

“We’re not gonna try something wild and crazy and take a chance. No, that’s how you lose it.

“Let’s do the work, follow the pattern, and eventually you’ll get to where you need to be.

“I believe in the hard work, I believe in the opportunities come to those who deserve it.”

Does he regret lost time? He could have been a bigger star…

John shrugged and pointed to the Above, “That’s what God wanted for me to be here.

“If the path had been different, a different road, I probably wouldn’t be here with the person who needs me the most, right?” he pointed at Ate Guy.

“Me, I don’t think about myself. Because, I want him to see that I won’t leave him no matter what they say.”

“Not for any purpose, whether there is money or not. Because what, eh… that’s Ate Guy. I love that, eh, right?

“I love her more than I love other people, right? Because when you’re friends, it’s not just words. It’s seen in action, right?”

THE CONSTANT PERSON TO ATE GUY’S LIFE

Throughout Ate Guy’s ups and downs for the past 34 years, his friend John has been there. It is said that others don’t realize how much John cares for the Superstar, how humane and compassionate he is.

Napatango si John, “I’m just a good man trying not to be labeled as a bad man, or trying not to turn into a bad man.

“Coz some people are like, ‘Are you a good guy playing a bad guy, or a bad guy portraying a good guy?’

“No. I’m a good guy trying not to be a bad guy, and every day, ‘no. Cuz about myself, some friends, they never think also.

“But I could either be very, very, very good… or very, very, very, very bad. Di ba? I chose to be very, very good, ‘no.

“It could go either way.”

Even though he swore he would never abandon his friend Guy, especially when he needed him the most, there were many times when other people wished they would break up.

John frowned, “They’re the ones who’ll replace me?! Their mother’s f*ck! They’re s*x! Sorry… sorry.”

John waved to his manager and smiled, “They won’t get along with Ate Guy. That’s different.”

“I was the only one who lasted. Everyone else who came, they gave up! ‘Aaaaahhh! I don’t want to!!!’ ‘I have high blood pressure!’”

Those super-Noranians who know the truth have high respect for John.

The singer-actor smiled again, “I think in another life, the situation would be the other way around. I’m just paying off a debt.”

NORA-JOHN FRIENDSHIP

Ate Guy couldn’t hold back and explained why her friendship with John lasted.

 

 

Looking back, Ate Guy said, “NV Productions used to hire talents. One of them was Juan Rodrigo. Then we hired Pip [Tirso Cruz III]. It should have been Marilyn [Villamayo]), my cousin.

“Then the contract should be signed… actually, the contract has already been signed. There was a problem with the production.”

“Because, there was jealousy. You know jealousy! So, it was ruined, something was lost, I closed the film office.”

“So what happened to him,” Ate Guy gestured to John, “he got caught up in that. I’m his manager, huh!

“So what happened was, I had a friend who was constantly slandering him. “Because he saw [John], I was being cheated on! That’s the truth of it. So, he couldn’t stand it then, he reported it to me.

“Well, that’s a friend of the reporters, eh… Wow, that’s a mention. You guys need to think about it,” Ate Guy shook his head.

Susog ni John, “There’s no reason to go any further.”

“So, that’s all,” the Superstar shrugged.

During Ate Guy’s long time in showbiz, many people cheated on him.

The Superstar nodded and gently said, “That’s too much.”

Did he harbor resentment towards those who cheated on him?

Ate Guy quickly shook her head, “Whatever it is, it’s already there, okay? It happened. They’ll bring it.”

Ate Guy admits to his shortcomings as John’s manager.

He said, “John came to us when he was only 18 years old. It’s been that long. Are you kidding me, I haven’t helped anyone in that long, right?

“What is he now? 52? Just kidding, 18 years old to 52 years old. NA Productions didn’t do anything, so I feel guilty too.”

Did she prove John’s loyalty to her?

“Yes. Too much.
