Actress Sylvia Sanchez has nothing but love and support for her son Arjo Atayde and his fiancée Maine Mendoza.

Last Friday, September 30, 2022, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Sylvia and briefly talked about her son’s engagement during the Bench Fashion Week 2022 in Bonifacio Global City.

Sylvia attended the event to support her daughter Gela who made her runway debut as part of Filipino fashion designer Jenni Contreras’ collection for the Human apparel brand.

Asked if she has been giving her son Arjo and her future daughter-in-law Maine advice on marriage, Sylvia said she’s not the type of “manugang” who interferes with her son’s relationship.

She told PEP.ph, “They are in charge of their own lives! They are adults and they can decide whatever they want. I will not interfere with them.”

Sylvia added that she will always be supportive of their happiness and said, “Wherever they are happy, I am.”

The 51-year-old Kapamilya actress, however, has one request for Arjo and Maine after they tie the knot.

Sylvia said, “I hope it doesn’t take too long, they’ll give me a grandchild. Not even five years! I’m old!”

Arjo and Maine got engaged last July 2022.

In an Instagram post on July 30, 2022, Sylvia expressed her love and support for the couple and welcomed Maine to their family with open arms.

In her post, Sylvia wrote, “He asked Her and She said, YES!!! Finally!!

“Welcome to the family, Maine [emojis] Thank you for loving my son. Love you Nak [emojis]

“I promise that I will take care and love you as my own Daughter [emojis]”
